Edit a visit form instance in Sidely

Learn why a completed visit form can no longer be edited and how to save it as a draft to make changes later.

Completing a form: a final action

When you finish filling in a visit form, you complete it by clicking the "Finish" button. This action also completes the corresponding visit event. From that point on, the form can no longer be edited.

Why can't a completed form be edited?

This restriction is designed to preserve the consistency of the data collected. Once the form is completed, Sidely considers the information entered to be final and ready to be used in your reports or analyses.

Save a form as a draft to edit it later

If you want to make changes to a form before completing it, you can save it as a draft by clicking the cross at the top right of the screen.

Examples of changes you can make to a draft form:

  • Add a photo or a document.

  • Fill in fields left empty.

  • Correct errors before final completion.

A form saved as a draft remains accessible and editable until you click "Finish".

Best practices for managing your forms

  • Take the time to check all the data before completing a form.

  • Use draft mode if you need more time or information to finalize your entry.

  • Inform your team of the completion rules to avoid any confusion.
