First of all, it is important that you have set up your company statuses and your additional fields.
By adding them directly to the import file, you will have a complete company database from the very first import.
Steps for a bulk import
Open the import tool
Fill in the following information in the file (required):
Name: Required for each company.
Status: The status must exactly match the naming configured in your settings.
Address: street number and name
City
Postal code
Country
Owner: Enter the user responsible for the company.
Latitude and Longitude: These columns are required in the file. They can be left empty, and the import module will automatically calculate the values from the addresses provided.
Additional fields: If configured, follow their naming exactly to ensure a correct import.
For each additional field, add the field name (same spelling and case) as the column name, and enter the desired value in the cell.
For example, for a checkbox additional field, enter False if the box should not be checked, and True if it should be checked.Import the Excel file
Map the fields in your file to Sidely
Once your file has been imported, you reach the field mapping page. This step lets you match the columns of your Excel file with the fields available in Sidely.
a. Select the type of item to import
Before mapping, you need to specify the type of data you are importing. Several options are available:
Companies
Contacts
Events
Products
Orders
Notes
Assortments
So select Companies. The field columns are displayed below the companies image.
b. Match the fields in your file with those in Sidely
To ensure an error-free import, the system asks you to confirm the column mapping between the platform and your Excel file.
Click "Automatic mapping" to assign them automatically.
On the left are the columns of your Excel file, and on the right the platform's company fields, with a * if the field is required.
If you notice that a column is in the wrong place, for example here, the Latitude field has been linked to the Format field:
Drag the Format field into the right-hand column with the other unused fields, and drag the Latitude field opposite the Latitude field.
5. Check the data before importing
Once all fields are filled in, click "Next".
Then click "Check", then "Validate" in the window that opens.
If errors are detected, an alert message will indicate the missing or incorrectly formatted fields. You must correct these errors before completing the import.
For example, here the Prospect status does not exist on the platform.
I can change it directly on the page so I don't have to edit my Excel file and re-import it.
6. Validate and start the import
When all the data is correctly mapped and validated, click "Check" again.
If everything is correct, the Next button turns dark purple. You can click it!
A window opens showing the number of imports; click Import at the bottom of the window.
The import starts automatically and the new entries will be visible in your Sidely workspace once the process is complete.
7. Check the integration
Once the import is complete, you can check that all companies have been created correctly in the Companies tab.
✅ Additional step: double-check the geographic positions
After the import, check that the coordinates have been generated automatically.
Display the Latitude and Longitude columns in your company database: click Column display, then select the fields and apply.
Use the advanced filters: Latitude "is empty".
Enrich the geographic position
1. Select the company or companies using the checkboxes on the left
2. Click Enrich geo positions.
3. A window opens; choose "All selected companies"
The system will tell you whether the enrichment succeeded or failed.
If the geographic position is not found, the address entered may be incorrect.
In this case, go to the company page and edit the address by following this procedure.
