When you change a company's parent in Sidely, it is important to follow a clean method to avoid duplicates, label conflicts or incorrect links between banners and points of sale.
An incorrect change can lead to inconsistencies in your filters, views or analyses. Here is the recommended best practice for changing a parent effectively on the Sidely web platform.
1. Delete the old label before creating a new one
If you want to rename an existing parent, avoid simply editing its name directly.
The recommended method is to:
Delete the parent's old label.
Then create a new parent with the correct name.
This method prevents some companies from remaining linked to an old label, or several similar values from coexisting in your database.
💡 Example:
Old parent:
SYSTEME U - GROUPEDesired new parent:
COOPERATIVE U - GROUPE
In this case, it is better to delete the old parent and then cleanly recreate the new one.
2. Check the links from the advanced filters
Once your new parent has been created:
Go to the Companies tab.
Open the Advanced filters.
Filter on the Parent 1 field.
Check that each company is linked to the right banner or group.
This step is essential to make sure all companies have been correctly updated after your change.
3. Bulk edit several companies if needed
If several companies need to be corrected at the same time:
Select the companies concerned.
Click the small pencil icon at the top of the list.
Choose Bulk edit.
Select:
Property to edit: Additional fields
Column: Parent 1
Enter the new parent.
Click Edit to apply the change to all selected companies.
This method saves time and ensures a consistent update of your database.
